Thalsa (Side dish for Briyani) - Thindukkal style

Here goes the mighty recipe for the delicious Thalsa, (thindukkal thalappa katti, style) very famous side dish for Briyani; this is a little tangy, spicy dhal stew made with vegetables and spice powder

I bring out the vegetarian version of it, if made for non - vegetarian dishes the same formula applies just that you add mutton or chicken bones in extra

Process:
Serves: 4 - 5 people

Masala Powder
Melagu (black pepper) - 1/2 spoon
Sombu - 1/2 spoon
Seeragam -1/2 spoon
K.Melagai - 2
Thaniya (coriander seeds) - 1/2 spoon
Patta - 1 pice
yellaka - 1
Kadal Pasi - small piece

Fry all these in a pan and grind it as a dry powder

Ingredients:
Chana Dhal - 2 spoon
Toor Dhal- handful
Drumstick -1
Brinjal - 2
Mango (Raw) - 1
Mutton or chicken bones (if non -veg) - 4-5 pieces
Small Onion -  5 sliced
Ginger and Garlic paste
Tomato - 1
Salt

Process:
1. Wash Channa dhal and toor dhal
2. Place a pan add oil, add onion , ginger garlic paste and mix the powder
3. Add all the diced vegetables fry for 2 min
4. Add tomato and salt
5. Add both dhals and add 2 glass of water
6. Leave for 2 whistles

7. Serve hot with Briyani
